We’re about to make history!
Are you ready? Lets go…
Please welcome to your screens … THE FIRST EVER SHAMELESS SPARKLES COLLAB! 😀
To say I’m delighted to be uploading this post is an understatement! Not only did I get to have an incredibly fun filled evening of makeup and chats, but I got to work with one of my very best friends on what I hope will be the first of many collabs between us and on Shameless Sparkles in generall! 😀
My very good friend Saoirse is a makeup enthusiast (much like myself) and is one of the most loyal, supportive, kind and wonderful people that I know. ❤ Her brand new blog, Confessions of a College Dropout, is simply bursting with amazing content that showcases not only her incredible talent for writing, but her fabulous character and inspiring journey in life so far 🙂 ❤
For today’s Shameless Collab, I put Saoirse to the test at trying out one of my go-to makeup looks with 9 of my trustworthy, holy-grail makeup products!
Saoirse had never used any of these products before, so it was my mission to collect her first impressions and compile this blog post accordingly! (#A+Plan) 😛
For this to work, we only applied products to one half of her face and left the other side untouched. This allowed her to see the true impact of the products against her bare skin and easily evaluate the overall makeup look in the end. Here’s how we got on…
Product 1: Revlon ColorStay Makeup Foundation for Normal/Dry Skin:
Saoirse: “That is brilliant – OHMYGOD!”
I think the power of Revlon’s Colorstay Foundation took Saoirse somewhat by surprise! When she applied the product to her face, the colour melted into her skin perfectly. She said it was “the first time her skin colour ever looked consistent or uniform – as if it was all the same tone.” I was chuffed with her reaction, as I personally consider Revlon’s Colorstay an unbeatable product in my collection, even in comparison to other high-end foundations.
We were off to a flying start! (*smiles*) 😀
Product 2: Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer:
Saoirse: “I feel like a porcelain doll!”
The positivity continued! Saoirse usually applies thick, stick-like concealers to cover her blemishes and had never really considered a liquid alternative before. I was keen to show her the ease of application and the sheer power that a product like this can have for highlighting under the eyes, as well as hiding any discoloration on the face. She applied as instructed and concluded that Maybelline’s Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer was simply “flawless.”
I also know she is keen to purchase one for herself ASAP (or maybe get one as a sneaky birthday gift :P)
Product 3: Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Sidecar:
Saoirse: “I feel like a Snow White princess!”
We then moved on to eye makeup. Typically, Saoirse likes to apply vibrant and daring eye colours – she’s much braver than I am! As my eye shadow collection consists mostly of neutral shadows (brown, brown and more brown) I unsurprisingly advised her to create a brown smokey eye. She first applied the Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Sidecar all over the lid. After application, she described the shade as “naturally pretty,” and seemed please by the glistening finish – “shimmery stuff is my favourite!” I was thrilled by her reaction and happy to watch her smile as she packed even more sparkle on her eyes!
Saoirse then applied the shade ‘buck’ to the crease, ‘hustle’ to the outer corner and Tanya Burrs Eye Shadow in ‘Snowflake’ to the inner corner and brow bone. She then created a slick, black wing line using her favourite Makeup Gallery Pro Liquid Eyeliner in black.
Product 4: Bourjois Volume 1 Seconde Mascara:
Saoirse: “I can SEE my lashes!”
To complete the eye look, Saoirse applied the Bourjois Volume 1 Seconde Mascara to her lashes.
Now, those of you who visit Shameless Sparkles regularly will know that I only blogged about this product two weeks ago. As it had such a huge impact on both me and my lashes, I was keen to see if Saoirse’s reaction would be similar to mine.
So, after applying a few strokes to her beautiful lashes, Saoirse gasped and told me that it was the first time she could actually “see” her lashes properly after product application! Her lashes are naturally light so the intense black colour and definition made a huge difference to her overall eye look. An excellent first impression, I must say 😛
Product 5: Benefit Hoola Bronzer:
Saoirse: “Blending scares me, but I know it will be rewarding.”
A stranger to all things bronzing / highlighting / contouring, Saoirse nervously picked up the brush to apply Benefit Hoola Bronzer in the hollows of her cheeks. I opted for the powder approach as a contouring introduction, as we all know how difficult this can be for a beginner. However, like a pro, she created a sun-kissed natural shadow on her face and also swept the product across her temples. She found the process ”a little scary” but liked the look overall in the end. She then applied Benefit’s Coralista blush to the apples of her cheeks for a pinch of extra colour 🙂
Product 6: Essence Eyebrow Stylist Set:
Saoirse: “It completes the eye look and makes everything look natural. My brows are strong and defined – I really like it!”
Another quite new avenue for Saoirse was filling in her brows. Her brows are naturally full and precise (I’m SO jealous) so she generally doesn’t need much product to get an awesome brow look.
I was in fact SO excited by her excellent brow shape that I actually asked Saoirse if I could apply the product to them myself 😛 (BROW CRAVINGS! :P) Saoirse didn’t mind at all as she’s only recently begun to explore her brows herself and was happy to oblige my request! 😀
After I applied the product, it was clear to me that Saoirse saw the impact that a fully-defined brow can have on your face. I explained that even though we applied a little more product than she usually would, we still created a natural finish that didn’t look fake or intimidating.
And I’m pretty sure strong brows might be her new thing – they looked simply wonderful on her 😀
Product 7: theBalm Mary-Lou Manizer:
Saoirse: “It’s definitely there – I can see it!”
My secret weapon. My holy grail. My irreplaceable ally.
I was SO EXCITED for Saoirse to try the Balm Mary Loumanizer. She applied the product to the high points on her face and my oh my – it looked DAMN GOOD. Even in the dodgy night-time lighting of my kitchen, she could see the glow of her cheekbones in the mirror. She looked refreshed, renewed and glowing 🙂
Product 8: Rimmel London Exaggerate Automatic Lip Liner in Eastend Snob:
Saoirse: “I love this colour! I’m so drawn to it. It’s not intimidating at all!”
As we came closer to achieving a finished look, it was time to approach the lip area. For a lip liner, I picked a colour that I knew Saoirse would be comfortable with and could potentially wear with any lip look she chooses.
Saoirse filled in her lips fully using Rimmel’s London Exaggerate Automatic Lip Liner in the shade Eastend Snob. After application, she told me that she really liked the colour of her lips, even without any lipstick applied on top.
However, I insisted we finish this look off in style and add a little more extra colour to pull the whole face together…
Product 9: MAC Cremesheen in Creme Cup:
Saoirse: “Oh WOW – I love it!”
For our final first impression, I asked Saoirse to apply MAC’s Creme Cup on top of her lip liner. I personally love this lip combo myself, and on Saoirse it looked simply divine! Against her pale skin, this lipstick shade suited her perfectly 😀 She also applied a slick coat of lip gloss for extra picture-perfect shine and sparkle 😀
Saoirse: “I’m so delighted with the overall look! Its so sophisticated and respectful – naturally pretty! I feel like I could wear to a family dinner or a night out – I LOVE it!”
(See photos of the beautiful Saoirse below) 😀
And that’s a wrap folks! A HUGE thank you to the fabulous Saoirse for helping out! Check out the collab I did with her on her blog – Confessions of a College Dropout – and be sure to tell her I sent you! (It’s a good one :P)
Until next time, stay sparkling ❤
