Pixi + Aspyn Ovard – Glow-y Powder Review

Collaboration: Pixi + Aspyn Ovard

Product Name: Glow-y Powder in London Lustre

Product Type: Highlighter

Texture: Soft powder.

Colour Description: In my opinion, it is a natural looking, radiant champagne colour. It has a lustrous, luminous finish which helps to reflect the light beautifully. I would describe it as a somewhat neutral highlight – a classic colour, nothing crazy – so I believe it would more than likely suit every skin tone.

Things I like: On my skin, the highlighter delivers a natural-looking radiant finish, not too overpowering as some highlighters can be. Brilliant for every-day wear but can definitely be built up on glamorous occasions. Glides easily and effortlessly across the top of my cheekbones, cupids bow and brow bone. A good highlight product with an easy to wear finish.

Things I don’t like: I felt that the packaging of the actual product was a bit cheap. It looks lovely in it’s box, but take it out and it’s a fairly standard-looking product.

What I would change: I would probably increase the pigment levels to make it more of a stand-out product. With so much competition for highlighters on the market these days especially from liquid highlighters, I think the only ones that will survive are those that have that exceptionally BAM! finish (you know what I’m talking about). I think this could be improved here for a greater impact on the skin. On a side note, I also don’t find most powder products hydrating by nature, so I probably wouldn’t have included that as a claim for this product.

Shameless Rating: 6.5/10. ❤

MAC x Fleur De Force Launch, Dublin + Meeting Fleur De Force

Venue: MAC, Brown Thomas, Grafton Street, Dublin.

Time: 6pm-8pm

Excitement Level: +20,000,000!!!!!

There’s no denying it. When I found out that Fleur De Force would be launching her new #MACxFleurDeForce lipstick in DUBLIN in PERSON, I lost it.

I love a new MAC lipstick launch as much as the next girl,  but I have followed the absolutely sensational Fleur De Force on YouTube for over 6 years now. I like to think of myself as an OG-Fleur fan – I was subscribed to her channel way back in the day when ‘What’s in my Handbag’ videos were going viral and lipstick swatches did not appear on screen in high definition. I watched on in awe from behind my computer screen as Fleur and the rest of the YouTube beauty community spiraled into the greatest digital phenomenon of the 21st century.

So after a generically long day in work with no makeup touch ups since 6am (12 hours, thank you Revlon), I marched my way to MAC excitedly in the pouring rain only to look even more weather-beaten and uncoordinated than I did before (thank you Irish weather).

I kid you not, the tears started flowing as I queued among the masses to get my moment with Fleur. I was so overwhelmed but absolutely loving every second of it. My fan-girl meter was set to over-drive but I was making sure to take it all in and enjoy this very lucky and once-in-a-lifetime experience.

The Lipstick:

The Fleur De Force Lipstick is limited edition, a ‘cool-beige’ colour with a cremesheen finish. To me, it shows up on my lips as a classic nude, sitting nicely in the ‘your lips but better’ category of lipstick land. Of course, the texture is amazing as per all  MAC cremesheen lipsticks, gliding on smoothly, softly and effortlessly. It was love at first swipe, if you will.

To my knowledge, this lipstick is pretty much sold out everywhere at the moment and appears to be incredibly difficult to get your hands on. I feel so lucky to have one sitting proudly on my dressing table, representing YouTube and what you can achieve in life if we all just dream a little bigger and work a little harder.

As for my moment with Fleur, she was the sweetest most kindest and down to earth person, exactly what I expected just like her videos. She was an absolute pleasure to meet and even more beautiful in person, a true YouTube goddess.

As for me, I ascended into goofy-hyperactive-hero-meeting-mode but made sure that I said everything that I wanted to say to Fleur even if it was at lightening speed and a bit incoherent. I think if I ever got the chance to see her again, she might recall me as ‘the tall, babbling baboon.’

Recommended to be worn over MAC’s Boldy Bare Lip Liner, the MAC x Fleur De Force Lipstick truly is a gorgeous product – definitely one to get your hands on if you can.

Congratulations Fleur and thank you so much for such a memorable evening. This is one for Shameless Sparkles history.  ❤

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel Review – Irish Launch, 2017

So I was in my local drugstore about 3 weeks ago when I spotted an attractive product display encircled by big white and blue balloons. Of course it caught my attention. Of course I investigated. 🙂

The new Neutrogena Hydro Boost range had landed on Irish shores. At first glance, I was excited and I scanned the range of new skincare products eagerly. Each one seemed to have an innovative water-like texture which I felt tempted to try on my usually dehydrated skin. The packaging and imagery looked refreshing, my sensual nature was activated and of course I was quickly selecting which product I wanted to try out first.

I decided to go with the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Cream purely based on functionality (who doesn’t love a moisturiser) as well as the alluring ‘gel cream’ texture reference on the pack.

First Impressions:

I took the product out of its very informative packaging (scroll to the end of this blog post for some dodgy pictures that I inserted) and upon opening the lid, it indeed appear to have a watery-gel-cream like texture. In terms of consistency, I would also describe it as a watery-gel-cream, so Neutrogena were indeed accurate with that description! I applied it to my freshly washed face (which definitely need moisturizing) and upon first impressions I was very pleased with what I felt. As you gently smooth the product over your skin, a refreshing wave of moisture is delivered cooling the skin entirely. It feels like the formula is breaking under your fingertips as you massage and it leaves your skin feeling soft, smooth and definitely hydrated. The fragrance is light and refreshing, suiting the ‘aqua’ theme perfectly. I didn’t feel the need to apply a second layer (as I often do with cheaper drugstore moisturizers) and I was initially very happy with my unplanned purchase.

After 3 Weeks of Use:

I replaced my usual moisturiser with the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Cream specially for the next 3 weeks so I could fully assess and gather my thoughts on this product. It is definitely a texture-focused, product launch which targets our senses for an indulgent skincare experience. Neutrogena definitely capitalizes on the water/hydration trend that is very apparent in the skincare market at the moment and upon further investigation, I must say that I love how this product is communicated to the consumers (have a quick google if you wanna check it out). I was very happy with the hydration it delivered and it definitely lasted throughout the day. It was a pleasure to apply to freshly washed skin, a beautiful skincare experience for those who like innovative textures and refreshing sensations. I would definitely repurchase purely for the sensual texture experience and the fact that it definitely does hydrate my skin as intended. In terms of performance, its not the heaviest moisturiser I’ve ever tried but it’s definitely effective and I would definitely position it towards the better end of my own personal moisturiser spectrum.

With this success, I’d love to try some more products in the Neutrogena Hydro Boost range. Have any of you tried any? What would you recommend I purchase next? Let me know in the comments below! 😀

Pro Tip: Skincare Savers:

Lloyds Pharmacy are offering a generous 33% off the NEW Neutrogena Hydro Boost Range in store RIGHT NOW! Best Winter Lip Products

Chapped/cracked/dry lips – thank you cold weather! 😛

Although Winter is arguably my favourite time of year (ahem, Christmas) I wake up at least 5 out of 7 days a week with sore and unattractive lips that are in need of some serious TLC!

As my lips have successfully made it through 22 Winters I feel that I’ve accumulated a good deal of experience when it comes to Winter lip care. I generally prefer not to give the cold weather a chance to harm my  lips so I try to protect them as much as I can. I slather on reliable lip products before I go to sleep on cold Winter nights or before leaving the house on equally cold Winter mornings. There’s a much better chance you’ll avoid Winter lip drama if you’re prepared to face the elements!

Read on to discover my favourite Winter lip products and how I use them for the best Winter lip care results! 🙂

  1. Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant

A classic. A cult favourite. Elizabeth Arden’s Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant has been on the beauty scene for what feels like centuries. I’ve had this same tube of product for over 5 years (totally ignoring any pending expiration date) and it’s definitely irreplaceable when it comes to caring for my lips. It is a thick, orange balm that I slather onto my lips every night before I go to sleep. It is so hydrating and intensively moisturizing that when I wake up my lips feel  INCOMPARABLY soft and smooth. I associate its scent with relaxation because I always apply it before going to sleep so if I feel anxious or stressed throughout the day a quick touch up helps me to feel instantly more comforted and calm. It’s a multi-purpose product so you can actually use it for soothing a whole host of skin problems so it’s definitely worth the high-end price tag. Pick it up and try it – you WILL NOT be disappointed!

2. Dr Pawpaw Original Balm

If you don’t have the budget for Elizabeth Arden or aren’t a fan of scented products, Dr Pawpaw Original Balm is definitely the lip product for you. It is a clear petroleum jelly not unlike Vaseline. Like all good Winter lip products, it instantly softens and smooths chapped/dry lips for comforting lip relief. In comparison to Elizabeth Arden’s Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant, I most often apply Dr Pawpaw Original Balm as a quick-fix for lip comfort in the middle of my day. What’s interesting is that it contains only 4 natural ingredients with no fragrance so its definitely kind and gentle to the lips. Great for gals who like simple, effective products with no fuss.

3. Oriflame Tender Care Protecting Balm

Oriflame Tender Care Protecting Balm is an attractive little gem for any makeup collection. It is a rich, thick lip balm that comes in a small, bejeweled pot in a variety of different colours. The purple one that I have is blackcurrant scented and smells so good that I’m always tempted to eat it. Similar to both products above, it provides instant softness and smoothness to chapped or dry lips. However, its edible scent and premium packaging makes this lip balm stand out from the rest. Its luxury is definitely not reflected in the price tag as it’s super affordable. A little also goes a very long way. You’re welcome 😛

4. Nivea Lip Care Pearly Shine

Nivea Lip Care Pearly Shine is ideal for gals who want moisture and softness PLUS a subtle touch of lip colour.  In comparison to the products above, this lip balm is is slightly pigmented adding a pink, pearly shine to any look. It’s a good alternative for those who want time saving, multi-purpose products – colour and comfort on the go. It often appears in my stocking on Christmas morning and classically resides in my handbag thereafter.

I hope this has inspired you to take care of your lips this Winter! They’re delicate and vulnerable and often need an extra bit of love.

Until next time, Stay Sparkling 🙂 ❤

Tanya Burr Lipstick Review

I’d like to begin this blog post by saying that I’ve been a fan of Tanya Burr’s cosmetic line for quite a while now. I have a few Tanya Burr lip glosses and nail polishes in my makeup collection as well as the Galaxy Eye Palette that contains the most perfect brow bone highlight ever known to man (Snowflake, FYI).

This year Tanya extended her cosmetic line and launched a whole host of new Autumn beauty products including a very sophisticated looking lipstick collection!

Pro’s of Convincing Self to Purchase: I knew the premium packaging would look great in my lipstick collection and the colours looked easily workable into my existing makeup routine.

Con’s of Convincing Self to Purchase: Makeup costs money and I decided it would be very unwise to spend ALL of my wages on this collection (but dear god I wish I could have). 😛

Conclusion: I decided to purchase 3 of the 6 new lipstick shades in Tanya’s collection and I’m now here to give you all a Shameless review! Lets get into it…

In general, the formulation of these lipsticks felt creamy and silky, melting into the lips upon application. The more you apply, the better the colour payoff so it was clearly a buildable formula which I very much enjoyed. 🙂

The first shade I picked up was a pale pink-nude colour called Birthday Cake. For me, this lipstick didn’t work out too great. I don’t have a very defined lip shape or a particularly rosy lip colour and as with most nude shades, it just didn’t stand out enough on my pale skin. However, when I applied Birthday Cake on top of a slightly darker pink lip liner it looked 100 times better and I felt more confident in pulling it off as a night time look. It also looked equally pretty when I had a tan on or with a full contour routine. My advice would be to find out how the shade works for you and rock it. 🙂

Happily Ever After was the next shade that I picked up from this collection. This is a tricky one to describe as I feel that the colour applies on the lips as some sort of a pink/coral/orange hybrid. I think this would look gorgeous in the Summer months. It is vibrant, flattering and most importantly, FUN! 🙂

The final shade I picked up from this collection was Pink Cocoa and although I don’t like choosing favourites this is definitely the one for me 😛 It is the perfect 90’s brown/pink shade (Kylie Jenner-esque, if you will). It flatters my pale skin SO MUCH and the colour payoff is excellent. I often wear this shade to work with minimal makeup or throw it on with a full face at night time. It is so versatile and actually reminds me of a few MAC shades that I own (comment below for specifics). A Shameless A+ for Pink Cocoa it is!

Have you tried any of the lipsticks in the Tanya Burr collection? Should I buy the other 3 shades? Let me know below 🙂

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water: How It Works + Review!

I find it very hard to stick to a skincare routine. Sometimes I’ll try a product for a few weeks, see no results, and call it quits. Other times, I’m simply lacking in motivation to cleanse my face, like when I fall into bed at 3am after a long night of partying (let’s be honest, we all do it :P)

Although micellar water has only recently hit the skincare spotlight, it has actually been around for over a hundred years! Rumor has it that it originated in France, where it was used to help Parisians deal with harsh water supplies. It’s now become hugely popular and is the skincare must-have on everyone’s lips.

Although micellar water looks just like regular water to the naked eye, it actually contains tiny molecules called surfactants.

And when you add a bunch of these surfactants to water, they assemble to form clusters called micelles (hence the name :P).

(Side note: As not all of my readers will have a scientific background, I’ll try to explain this next part as simply as I can. However, if anyone requires a more in-depth scientific explanation, drop me a comment and i’ll link you to some resources). 🙂

So, to put very simply, these special surfactants have an oil-loving tail and a water-loving head. This means that when you apply micellar water to  cotton pad, the surfactant head secures the micelle to the pad, leaving the oil-loving tail free to grab dirt, makeup and oil from your face as you cleanse.

Phew, that wasn’t so hard 😛

So, now that we all have an understanding of how micellar water works, lets move on to the product I tried – Garnier’s Micellar Cleansing Water. 🙂

I’m no skincare expert, but I believe I have combination skin. Parts of my face often become oily throughout the day, while other parts can feel dehydrated. I’m also prone to regular breakouts, but nothing too extreme. 🙂

I’ve used Garnier’s Micellar Cleansing Water at least once every day for about a month. I use it every single night to remove my make-up and almost every morning to refresh my skin after sleeping.

Although I haven’t noticed a huge difference in terms of breakouts, it does make my skin feel extremely fresh and clean without any dehydration. And for this reason, I simply love it. 🙂

In fact, I don’t even need to moisturise after using it, which is a huge plus. 🙂

The thing I like most about this product (and perhaps the reason why I’ve actually stuck to my skincare routine for the past month) is that its EXTREMELY time efficient. It takes literally 60 seconds to both apply and cleanse, something I believe even the busiest person would have time for in their day. 🙂

You don’t even need a bathroom sink, as you do not need to wash this product off! Once you’re careful not to spill it, you can literally apply the water to a cotton pad and cleanse your skin anywhere at any time 🙂

By using this product, I found it amazing to see how dirty your skin gets throughout the day. I still have residue coming off my skin and onto the cotton pad even when i’m not wearing makeup or after a long day.

For me, the cotton pad speaks for itself and it’s extremely satisfying to see what the micellar water is actually removing from your skin 🙂

Next to try on my micellar water list is the Bioderma Sebium H2O, which is formulated specifically for combination / acne prone skin. It will be interesting to see if this formula is better at reducing breakouts than the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water, but cleansing and removing makeup just as effectively. Would you like to hear how I get on? 🙂

Until next time, stay sparkling 🙂 ❤

Staying Positive – Permanently?

I’m a big believer in positive thinking. I truly believe that your thoughts create your reality and that changing the way you think can ultimately change your world.

I’m always looking for ways to reinforce positive thinking in my life, whether its writing a diary or repeating a mantra.Sometimes I hang positive quotes on my wall, or simply force myself to smile even when I don’t feel like it.

I was always intrigued by the permanency of tattoos. The idea that once you commit to getting one, you’re essentially stuck with it for life.

I’ve done a lot of thinking about this lately, wondering if the permanent stamp of a tattoo bears any similarities with my permanent desire to live a positive life.

If I got a tattoo to represent my positivity, would I feel positive whenever I looked at it? Would it make me believe that all bad moments in life could be turned into positive ones?Would it serve as a release into a world where feeling negative was non-existent?  A permanent escape from a reality to a ‘positive-only’ universe?

I’m glad  I never actually got a tattoo, as I daresay I would have been very frustrated. I’ve realized that it is simply impossible  for someone to feel positive all the time. That there’s always going to be moments in life where you feel frustrated and you want to give up, like there’s no solution to your problems or that things will never be the same.

The good news is that I found an alternative way to represent positivity on my body. Thankfully, it requires much less of a commitment and certainly a lot less pain! 🙂

Thanks to a wonderful Youtuber called Kaushal Beauty, I discovered an amazing website called Bon Vita. With a whole host of content, tips and tricks, Bon Vita is essentially dedicated to helping you live a positive life. It’s a fantastic online resource and it’s simply impossible to leave this website without feeling inspired.

It is on the Bon Vita website that I purchased my ‘Positive Mind Positive Life‘ bracelet.

For me, wearing this bracelet every day acts as a physical reminder to think positively. It helps me when I’m having a bad day or can’t seem to shift my negative thoughts. And although I know a bracelet isn’t the answer to all of my problems, it sure does boost my confidence and encourage me to think positive when times are tough (and hey, it looks cute right? :P)

Sometimes, all you have is yourself.

Sometimes, YOU  have to be the brave one and take a chance. Turn the impossible into the possible.

And after all, you are the person that you’re stuck with forever. Life is too short to be unhappy, too short not to gamble, too short to be living with regrets.

So why not do everything you can to live the most fulfilling, rewarding, wonderful, exciting, positive life that you could ever have dreamed of?

I believe that a positive mind really is the key to a positive life.

And if i have to permanently wear a bracelet to remind myself of this sometimes, then that is what I shall do 🙂

Let me know what you do to help you stay positive! Drop me a comment down below 🙂

NU Skin Products – Mini Facial Review!

Every girl loves a facial, right? There’s no better feeling than coming home from a long day at work and having a guilt-free, indulgent pampering session with all of your favourite beauty products. It’s sort of like you’re in your very own spa – but at a fraction of the price and in your own home! 🙂

A very lovely consultant from the NU Skin brand called Stacey recently reached out to me and gave me some samples of NU Skin products. Over the last 2 weeks, I’ve replaced my normal skincare routine with three of these NU Skin products which I used to create a mini-facial, as Stacey recommended 🙂

Keep reading to see how I got on! 🙂

Product 1: Glacial Marine Mud:

Stacey kindly provided me with some background information about the NU Skin brand and about the products I was going to try, so I did a bit of reading on this product before I put it to the test. The Epoch Glacial Marine Mud  is formulated to draw out impurities, remove dead skin cells and nurture the skin on your face. The mud itself is obtained from a remote glacial estuary and is contains with a variety of skin beneficial ingredients including zinc and sea botanicals (very fancy :P). As an enthusiastic face-mask lover, I was very excited to try out this product and see what it could offer my skin.

The first thing I noticed was that the mud felt  very smooth and was extremely fun to apply all over my face. I noticed that it dried almost instantly after application – a quality I really like in face masks. I felt my skin become tighter and my pores – OH MY PORES – became instantly visible around my nose and around my mouth (see photo below).

I left the product on my skin for about 10 minutes as instructed. Warm water melted the mask right off my face instantly and results were definitely visible – my skin looked and felt rejuvenated, renewed, glowing and fresh!

I absolutely LOVED this product – it was easy, fun and most importantly effective. I would definitely recommend it as a thorough, refreshing face mask for any skincare routine – particularly if you have large pores to tackle like myself!

Product 2: Polishing Peel Exfoliating Cream:

NU Skin’s Polishing Peel Exfoliating Cream is inspired by one of the most popular, non-surgical cosmetic procedures called microdermabrasion. I wasn’t sure what to expect with this product, but I knew that microdermabrasion involved resurfacing the face to reverse skin damage caused by ageing, sun exposure etc. As a lover of all things science, I was very intrigued and very interested to try this product.

The product looked like a thick, glossy paste with a definite polish-like smell. It felt very smooth and I applied it all over my face as instructed. Almost instantly, my skin began to tingle and I felt a tightening sensation. I used my fingertips to massage the product into my skin and the product started to become worked into larger particles.

AND THEN IT HAPPENED – my dead skin simply began to peel off – PEEL OFF – it was INCREDIBLE! 🙂

As I massaged my skin in circular motions, the product literally peeled the dead skin cells off my face and it looked like my skin was flaking off. It was SO COOL and I totally understood why this product was comparable to microdermabrasion – the whole surface of my skin was literally renewed! I later read that this product is actually clinically proven to be equivalent to a professional microdermabrasion session and I was not surprised – it was amazing. 🙂

I experienced most skin peeling across my cheeks and the lower half of my face. The results weren’t as intense on my forehead, probably because I had less dead skin there.

After the peeling and removal of the rest of the product, the smoothness and softness of my skin was just incredible, even on my forehead!  The product literally left only  brand new, healthy skin cells on my face and my complexion looked very fresh and renewed. I was so happy that I got to try this product and highly recommend it if you want to achieve similar results to microdermabrasion in the comfort of your own home. It wasn’t harsh on my skin and achieved unbelievable results – a definite winner. 🙂

Product 3: Exfoliant Scrub:

The final product I got to try was the NU Skin Exfoliant scrub. As I have very dry skin, I was excited to see what this product could do for my face and if it could compare to any others that I have tried in the past. This scrub is formulated with incredibly fine exfoliating particles and I noticed it had a very refreshing peppermint fragrance.

When I applied the product to my face, I found it glided  across my skin effortlessly and the particles felt small enough to access all areas of my face.

I gently massaged the product into my skin and when I washed it off, my face felt very refreshed and clean. It was an excellent, thorough exfoliation step that I think would work for any skincare routine. My skin felt soft, smooth and renewed and I was very happy with the results. 🙂

Final Thoughts:

I think it is clear that I absolutely loved these 3 NU Skin products! I wasn’t aware of this brand before I was approached by Stacey and am so glad that I got to try such high quality, high performing and luxurious skin care 🙂

It should also be noted that I applied the products in the order suggested by Stacey: the Exfoliant Scrub, the Glacial Marine Mud and then the Polishing Peel Exfoliating Cream. It took me about 30 minutes in total to finish my mini-facial routine each time.

I had several blissful evenings of easy, at-home, spa-like pampering and luxury that I simply never wanted to end! It was definitely a treat and I do plan on repurchasing some of the products, particularly the Polishing Peel Exfoliating Cream. I’m also really interested in trying the NU Skin Moisture Restore Intense Moisturiser, as I think it would be a great follow-up product to finish off your mini-facial.

I’ll link you to the NU Skin website here and to Stacey’s Facebook page here in case any of you are interested in trying some of the products. If you’re looking for youthful, rejuvenated, fresh and smooth skin, they’re definitely worth checking out! 🙂

Until next time, stay sparkling 🙂 ❤

Full Face First Impressions – A Shameless Collab! (feat. Revlon, Benefit, theBalm & MORE!)

We’re about to make history!

Are you ready? Lets go…

Please welcome to your screens … THE FIRST EVER SHAMELESS SPARKLES COLLAB! 😀

To say I’m delighted to be uploading this post is an understatement! Not only did I get to have an incredibly fun filled evening of makeup and chats, but I got to work with one of my very best friends on what I hope will be the first of many collabs between us and on Shameless Sparkles in generall! 😀

My very good friend Saoirse is a makeup enthusiast (much like myself) and is one of the most loyal, supportive, kind and wonderful people that I know. ❤ Her brand new blog, Confessions of a College Dropout, is simply bursting with amazing content that showcases not only her incredible talent for writing, but her fabulous character and inspiring journey in life so far 🙂 ❤

For today’s Shameless Collab, I put Saoirse to the test at trying out one of my go-to makeup looks with 9 of my trustworthy, holy-grail makeup products!

Saoirse had never used any of these products before, so it was my mission to collect her first impressions and compile this blog post accordingly! (#A+Plan) 😛

For this to work, we only applied products to one half of her face and left the other side untouched. This allowed her to see the true impact of the products against her bare skin and easily evaluate the overall makeup look in the end. Here’s how we got on…

Product 1: Revlon ColorStay Makeup Foundation for Normal/Dry Skin:

Saoirse: “That is brilliant – OHMYGOD!”

I think the power of Revlon’s Colorstay Foundation took Saoirse somewhat by surprise! When she applied the product to her face, the colour melted into her skin perfectly. She said it was “the first time her skin colour ever looked consistent or uniform – as if it was all the same tone.” I was chuffed with her reaction, as I personally consider Revlon’s Colorstay  an unbeatable product in my collection, even in comparison to other high-end foundations.

We were off to a flying start! (*smiles*) 😀

Product 2: Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer:

Saoirse: “I feel like a porcelain doll!”

The positivity continued! Saoirse usually applies thick, stick-like concealers to cover her blemishes and had never really considered a liquid alternative before. I was keen to show her the ease of application and the sheer power that a product like this can have for highlighting under the eyes, as well as hiding any discoloration on the face. She applied as instructed and concluded that Maybelline’s Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer was simply “flawless.”

I also know she is keen to purchase one for herself ASAP (or maybe get one as a sneaky birthday gift :P)

Product 3: Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Sidecar:

Saoirse: “I feel like a Snow White princess!”

We then moved on to eye makeup. Typically, Saoirse likes to apply vibrant and daring eye colours – she’s much braver than I am! As my eye shadow collection consists mostly of neutral shadows (brown, brown and more brown) I unsurprisingly advised her to create a brown smokey eye. She first applied the Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Sidecar all over the lid. After application, she described the shade as “naturally pretty,” and seemed please by the glistening finish – “shimmery stuff is my favourite!” I was thrilled by her reaction and happy to watch her smile as she packed even more sparkle on her eyes!

Saoirse then applied the shade ‘buck’ to the crease, ‘hustle’ to the outer corner and Tanya Burrs Eye Shadow in ‘Snowflake’ to the inner corner and brow bone. She then created a slick, black wing line using her favourite Makeup Gallery Pro Liquid Eyeliner in black.

Product 4: Bourjois Volume 1 Seconde Mascara:

Saoirse: “I can SEE my lashes!”

To complete the eye look, Saoirse applied the Bourjois Volume 1 Seconde Mascara to her lashes.

Now, those of you who visit Shameless Sparkles regularly will know that I only blogged about this product two weeks ago. As it had such a huge impact on both me and my lashes, I was keen to see if Saoirse’s reaction would be similar to mine.

So, after applying a few strokes to her beautiful lashes, Saoirse gasped and told me that it was the first time she could actually “see” her lashes properly after product application! Her lashes are naturally light so the intense black colour and definition made a huge difference to her  overall eye look. An excellent first impression, I must say 😛

Product 5: Benefit Hoola Bronzer:

Saoirse: “Blending scares me, but I know it will be rewarding.”

A stranger to all things bronzing / highlighting / contouring, Saoirse nervously picked up the brush to apply Benefit Hoola Bronzer in the hollows of her cheeks. I opted for the powder approach as a contouring introduction, as we all know how difficult this can be for a beginner. However, like a pro, she created a sun-kissed natural shadow on her face and also swept the product across her temples. She found the process ”a little scary” but liked the look overall in the end. She then applied Benefit’s Coralista blush to the apples of her cheeks for a pinch of extra colour 🙂

Product 6: Essence Eyebrow Stylist Set:

Saoirse: “It completes the eye look and makes everything look natural. My brows are strong and defined – I really like it!”

Another quite new avenue for Saoirse was filling in her brows. Her brows are naturally full and precise (I’m SO jealous) so she generally doesn’t need much product to get an awesome brow look.

I was in fact SO excited by her excellent brow shape that I actually asked Saoirse if I could apply the product to them myself 😛 (BROW CRAVINGS! :P) Saoirse didn’t mind at all as she’s only recently begun to explore her brows herself and was happy to oblige my request! 😀

After I applied the product, it was clear to me that Saoirse saw the impact that a fully-defined brow can have on your face. I explained that even though we applied a little more product than she usually would, we still created a natural finish that didn’t look fake or intimidating.

And I’m pretty sure strong brows might be her new thing – they looked simply wonderful on her 😀

Product 7: theBalm Mary-Lou Manizer:

Saoirse: “It’s definitely there – I can see it!”

My secret weapon. My holy grail. My irreplaceable ally.

I was SO EXCITED for Saoirse to try the Balm Mary Loumanizer. She applied the product to the high points on her face and my oh my – it looked DAMN GOOD. Even in the dodgy night-time lighting of my kitchen, she could see the glow of her cheekbones in the mirror. She looked refreshed, renewed and glowing 🙂

Product 8: Rimmel London Exaggerate Automatic Lip Liner in Eastend Snob:

Saoirse: “I love this colour! I’m so drawn to it. It’s not intimidating at all!”

As we came closer to achieving a finished look, it was time to approach the lip area. For a lip liner, I picked a colour that I knew Saoirse would be comfortable with and could potentially wear with any lip look she chooses.

Saoirse filled in her lips fully using Rimmel’s London Exaggerate Automatic Lip Liner in the shade Eastend Snob. After application, she told me that she really liked the colour of her lips, even without any lipstick applied on top.

However, I insisted we finish this look off in style and add a little more extra colour to pull the whole face together…

Product 9: MAC Cremesheen  in Creme Cup:

Saoirse: “Oh WOW – I love it!”

For our final first impression, I asked Saoirse to apply MAC’s Creme Cup on top of her lip liner. I personally love this lip combo myself, and on Saoirse it looked simply divine! Against her pale skin, this lipstick shade suited her perfectly 😀 She also applied a slick coat of lip gloss for extra picture-perfect shine and sparkle 😀

Final Thoughts:

Saoirse: “I’m so delighted with the overall look! Its so sophisticated and respectful – naturally pretty! I feel like I could wear to a family dinner or a night out – I LOVE it!”

(See photos of the beautiful Saoirse below) 😀

And that’s a wrap folks! A HUGE thank you to the fabulous Saoirse for helping out! Check out the collab I did with her on her blog – Confessions of a College Dropout – and be sure to tell her I sent you! (It’s a good one :P)

Until next time, stay sparkling ❤

It’s no secret here on Shameless Sparkles that I am a HUGE fan of beauty  youtubers! There’s no challenge I enjoy more than putting the guru’s latest makeup creations to the test and seeing if they’re worth the hype 😀

Tanya Burr is no exception – she is one of my favourite beauty youtuber’s of all time and let me just start by saying that her cosmetic line (Tanya Burr Cosmetics) is TO.DIE.FOR 😀

Today’s lip combo is definitely my favourite way to wear one of Tanya’s gorgeous nude lip glosses 😀 You’ll also need a Rimmel Lip Liner that is considered holy-grail status in a lot of beauty lover’s collections! 😀

To achieve the lip look pictured above, apply Tanya Burr Lip Gloss in the shade Picnic in the Park on top of Rimmel’s Exaggerate Lip Liner in the shade Eastend Snob. 😀

Tanya’s luscious, nude gloss sits perfectly on top of the liner’s pink  pigment to to create this simple yet stunning lip combo. It’s perfect for both every day wear or a night time look with a dark smokey eye – the choice is yours 🙂

The beauty of this lip combo is that it is guaranteed to look good no matter what other makeup you choose to wear it with! Dark blue eye shadow or sparkly silver liner, I promise you’ll be able to pull it off no matter what the occasion! 😀
