Hey guys! This week, the Shameless Sparkles Spotlight will feature my favourite Irish magazine, a TV show and a novel by a fabulous Youtuber! *Round of applause* ❤
FYI: The Shameless Sparkles Spotlight is a blog post in which movies/programmes/songs/books/anything that I particularly enjoyed (or became obsessed with) can be acknowledged and recommended as a source of happiness!
- STELLAR MAGAZINE:
Before I discovered this Irish gem in my local newsagents, magazine reading was often tedious and tiring for me. You see, the prices of the products featured were most often in GBP, which is essentially useless to us lassies living in Ireland 😛 When i discovered Stellar magazine, MY.LIFE.WAS.CHANGED. Not only were the prices of the products featured in Euro (i’m talking fashion items, beauty products, home-ware, sports equipment, YOU NAME IT) but the magazine itself was a damn good read too 😛 The writers really do capture the essence of Irish humor perfectly, keeping it real when discussing serious issues but adding the typical Irish ‘craic’ everywhere else 😛 I’ve been a reader for over a year now and consider Stellar an essential to pick up every month when it hits the shelves 😀 They also have an awesome website with more girly, exclusive content that i’ll link right here, if you’re more of an online chick than a glossy-mag girl. Regardless, if you’re living on the aul Emerald Isle, you simply MUST give it a read – what are you waiting for – go grab it 😛
2. THE MINDY PROJECT:
WHERE HAS THIS SHOW BEEN ALL MY LIFE?! The hilariously perfect TV series that is The Mindy Project has been airing since 2012 and – holy cow – it’s brilliant! 😛 The episodes are short enough to watch on your lunch break during work and you’ll definitely laugh out loud at the disastrously fabulous life of Mindy Kaling 😛 If you’re a woman in your 20’s or older, I guarantee that you’ll relate to Mindy at least once in every episode and while this may make you cringe and shovel more ice-cream into your mouth than necessary, it will definitely leave you with a cheeky giggle and a smile on your face 😛 However, regardless of your age, this rom-com is definitely worth a watch if you like funny, laugh-out-loud, up-beat series’ with a QUEEN of a main character 😛 #Slay
3. LIFE WITH A SPRINKLE OF GLITTER BY LOUISE PENTLAND:
Okay, I have so many wonderful things to say about this novel that I was originally planning on doing a whole separate blog post dedicated to Life With A Sprinkle Of Glitter by one of my favourite Youtubers, Louise Pentland, but honestly, I think if I started a blog post like that, it would be never ending, as I would just babble away in awe of Louise and her novel for much longer than necessary 😛 So, instead, I have resorted to keeping my thoughts short and concise and am going to review it here, right now (hope you don’t mind :P).
So I read this book on the beach and by the pool when I was on holidays in Alcuida with my family this Summer, and I’ve got to say, I absolutely devoured it 😛 First of all – the cover – could it BE any cuter?! *Chandler Bing Voice* 😛 In keeping with the theme of design, it is clear from the first page that so much love and commitment was poured into this book, as Louise has designed every page individually, always different from the one before! The overall design makes this book incredibly appealing to the eye (and my girly nature) and I have to say a huge bravo to Louise and her team on their fabulous creativity 🙂
This book is so jam packed with positivity and wonderful, uplifting content that I can’t even decide what to mention here and what to leave out! From the hilarious anti-baking chapter to room design, to beauty, fashion and all things in between, there is literally something in this book for everybody. It is (as Louise described it herself) the type of book that you can pick up and read all in one go or read a little chunk every once in a while, particularly if you’re having a bad day. I give you my word that you will enjoy reading this book and take something positive from it, be it a craft idea, a makeup tip or a new mantra to get you through those tough, rainy days (we all have them :P).
I know I will re-read this book countless times and complete all of the activities and ideas that Life With A Sprinkle Of Glitter has to offer and I would like to thank Louise for creating so beautiful for her fans to enjoy. I am a proud Sprinklerino and will genuinely treasure this book forever 🙂
